Dear Dubuque County Library User,
Due to an unfortunate series of events last month, the library experienced a computer problem, leading to a loss of some library data.
HOW THIS MIGHT AFFECT YOU
• Any items you placed through our hold system may have been lost. Please place the hold again, or ask us to do it for you.
• We have reset many PINs to the last four digits of your telephone number. If your normal PIN doesn’t work, please try the phone number.
• Books and other items in the card catalog may not be in the branch listed. Please ask if you don’t find the book where it is supposed to be, we can check other shelves for you.
• You may have items at home, that don’t show as being checked out to you. Since we don’t charge overdue fines, you will not have to worry about paying late fees.
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP
• Please bring your library card when you come to the library. Our new policy requires using either a library card or photo ID, but until we have checked your information, please bring your library card.
• Please check your shelves at home, to identify items that might belong to the Dubuque County Library.
• Be patient - staff is working very hard to get things back to normal.
We are inputting lost data daily and will continue to work on this. We will be doing a complete inventory this summer, which will correct any remaining issues.
